Nickole's Must-Sees while in Nassau

Updated: Apr 13, 2022

1. The Tipsea Bar

This has been a cute little spot I've been wanting to visit since their conception back in 2020.

The Tipsea Bar is the very first full service mobil bar in The Bahamas and they are absolutely smashing it! The trailer was actually a horse trailer that has been designed and renovated by the owner herself! With delicious cocktails and such a beautiful and simple set up, we are more than honoured to be featuring them!

While in Nassau, New Providence, head your way to Village Road. It is pretty much an essential road so you are bound to come across it, even if accidently. You will find them there at Ty's Place specifically.

You see what we sayin'?! Just itching to go! But these lovely specialty drinks and sweet smiling faces are not only here to serve you the poison, but entertain you as well!

That's right! If you happen to be on the island and in the area, they have live music every Wednesday as well as open mic! Go ahead! Fresh open air, good riddims and vybes, smooth cool drinks in the warm Bahama breeze, what more can you ask for?

... Oh wait.. there is more!

They are available for bookings!

Weddings, events, parties, backyard get-togethers! They offer the ability to hire their little Tipsea kiosk even their servers for gatherings. Not only that but you can rent the actual Tipsea trailer!

Andd they can go to the family islands too! They would not deny you if you are staying outside of Nassau, Exuma, Eleuthera? Just check them out on facebook or shoot an email to find out what is available for you! :D

This has got to be one of my favourite things about them, super inclusive, super special and unique and least we forget to mention they are big in supporting our local national trust and organizations focused on environmental education.

I can go on and on about these guys and I haven't even been there. Lawdt they gawn hava hard time gettin rid a' me.

A great thank you to Ms. Alicia aka Puppy for allowing me to feature and proudly brag about them! They need to be praised and celebrated!

See you there guys! 🍻

2. The Caves of Nassau, New Providence

While in Nassau, I feel it is important to visit some natural sights as well. Truly well worth the visit.

There are some mixed reviews for the caves. One of the main issues with them, is that it is unable to access the deeper insides of the caves with wheel chairs. Understandably., but they are also not too big where it is even possible yet alone a must. There are also no safety railings and no lighting installed within the structures. So, just keep these in your mind when visiting and you will be delighted at this natural wonder. Use flash on your cameras or your phones flashlight when you pop in and be mindful of the fruit bats!

The caves were formed millions of years ago by the nearby sea. Crashing away at the limestone, even forming 'blow holes' at the top of the caves. Creating stunning 'sky windows' in the caves ceilings, my favourite things.

A feeling I cannot describe when visiting these caves, is something I wish to share with everyone. However, I feel it is important to mention that to get that feeling from these caves, it is not really necessary to go inside of them (the largest of the 2 caves, has a deeper pathway you can enter). Just walking near and in the mouths of these alone can put you back to a more primal time.

A time maybe within piracy, or maybe even before them, with our indigenous people, sheltering from the tropical rains. We will let your minds wonder as you feel and explore yourself.

I really enjoy these caves, even as a kid. Just driving past them is very cool to me. Reminds me of history and wilderness at the same time. You've got a main road accessing these caves. You can take bus, taxi or just find yourself an ATV or normal rental and just head west on Bay Street/West Bay Strt. As I said, the main road takes you here, hard to get lost if you follow the main roads. You will come across a wee sign but also on the opposite side, the beautiful long stretch of Cable beach.

Trust me when I say, there are no wasted trips/ventures in Bahamas. Everywhere and anywhere there is something to enjoy, whether that be a small find or a big excursion.

As a Bahamian, I advice just take it all in. Whatever it is. Be humble, be grateful for this beautiful opportunity to experience. Do not get fussy when you do not see any piña colada shacks waiting for you. There are bigger things to gain from places and moments with less <3
